Masai Mara ♥♥

And the safari continues...
A hippo family
protecting the baby :)
In the wild, they look different from the hippos in the zoo - not as fat, and the skin looks pretty bashed-up. Many hippos have quite a lot of scars - even the little ones - so they seem to have a lot of arguments amongst each other. ;) And our guides gave us different explanations for the red skin, so in fact I don't know what it means. Looks bad though...
this baby hippo didn't want to go into the water - which smelled pretty bad, so I understand ;)
Pumba!
Or warthog in english.
Is there any cuter animal out there? I don't think so.
They look so funny, when they run! :-D
And they run a lot - they don't have very strong nerves.
Another fun fact: Our guide said that they have an extremely short memory span. They start running, but after a while they forget why they started to run in the first place - so they stop. They are an easy meal for any predator...
African buffalo - first time I saw those :)
 Elephant family
They are pretty impressive - and also pretty destructive.
There were fallen trees all over the place because of them.
young male lions
their mane is so cute
 a female lion
a mother (totally exhausted) and her cubs (very hungry)!
so adorable!!
(the 2 photos below are taken by André Spica, our Norwegian guide
- they were well hidden in a bush, and my zoom wasn't good enough)
There was also a leopard, who had just given birth, but we were not lucky enough to see them.
more females
They didn't mind us at all... :)
We went on a night safari! That was super cool!
With red light, the guides were looking for animals.
There were a couple of single male lions, and they were communicating (roaring) with each other - while our car was parked right next to them. That was very impressive - and probably the only time that I thought that I don't have to be THAT close to the animal... After all, there is not much protection from the lion in the open car... And they are such strong, beautiful animals!
But again, they didn't mind us at all. He was ready to go to bed... a lot of fur cleaning and yawning was all he did - before he dropped down and fell asleep. :-D
Not a care in the world, when you are the king... :-)

More photos to follow (yes, there's more!). :)
